Josie’s Coffee Co. didn’t actually start as a dream to open a coffee shop. It actually started as a dream to plant a church! Our faith has always been a core tenant of who we are as people. As a younger man, Josiah was on an incredible missions trip in New Orleans when he felt the call to go out to Central Florida and plant a Christ centered church. As he continued to grow in his faith and his calling, he met his incredible wife, McKenna, who also faithfully stepping into the church planting journey. As we have dreamed about this church and what it would look like, one thing we have realized is super important is the idea of a home. We have helped grow many churches, and the ones that we see grow and succeed are the ones that can find a home to root themselves in. A central and available place to call home allows churches to not just serve its community on Sundays, but also serve its community and beyond throughout the week!

 

So what does this all have to do with coffee?!?

 

Well, let me start by saying, when we are not at home, or at church, McKenna and I are normally at a coffee shop. What we have come to realize is two things. One, we love good coffee, and two, the coffee shop has become central to most people’s lives around us. There is no better place to work, meet with friends, go on a date, or just take some time to relax then at a coffee shop. That realization is when our dream of what a church could look like expanded.

 

The plan is simple.

 

Step one, start small!

First steps are hard and real estate is harder! That doesn’t mean good coffee shouldn’t happen. Starting as a mobile specialty coffee cart, we can get our feet under us and start building community. With a soft launch in Arizona throughout 2025 and a full launch in Central Florida planned for 2026, this is our time to continue to perfect our craft and build community.

 

Step two, set down some roots!

After we establish ourselves as a part of the Central Florida community, we want to build a physical space where we can serve the community to a greater capacity. Our dream is to not just build a coffee shop, but to build a space where people can gather and grow relationships. Practically, the dream is that this space will be part coffee shop, part local music venue, and part event space. We want to build a place people can come and experience life, all while serving high quality specialty coffee.

 

Step three, go all in!

Look we know that not everyone in the coffee community is religious, and we can respect that. However, for McKenna and I, the love and joy of Jesus has been a core part of our story. We simply want to share that love and joy with others. The strategy is simple. We build a coffee shop that provides high quality specialty coffee, hospitality that creates community, and a place for people to call home. Then we build a church that can focus on supporting, loving, and caring for the community of Central Florida. The coffee shop is about building a home, and the church is about building a family. To us, it’s the perfect match!
